Your Inner Mentor

Just imagine a famoue actor ,politician or public figure as your personal mentor? How would that increase your chances of success? Well, good news! You can tap into the energy, wisdom and advice of these successful people to support, motivate, and inspire you to create and live your ultimate life. Before I explain how to access your personal mentor, please take a few minutes to complete the exercise.

Write down your answer to the question - What do I like about myself? Next, select three very different people that you have known during your lifetime (for example, grandmother, ex-boyfriend or boss). Write the answer to the question above from the perspective of each person.

Compare the three answers with that of your own. I'm sure the responses will be different.

The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate that you have the ability to tap into the thinking patterns of others. You can use this technique in a positively life enhancing manner by signing on with your personal 'inner mentor'.

An inner mentor is someone who guides and advises you. You do not communicate with them directly. You use your imagination to access their thoughts, wisdom and insight, to determine better and smarter ways to achieve your life goals. The advantages of using an inner mentor include:

  • You choose your own mentor.
  • There is no charge for their services.
  • They are accessible any time.
  • They help you to think in bigger, better and smarter ways.
  • They provide encouragement and support when it may not be forthcoming from significant others in your life.

So who could best support and encourage you with your life goals? Your choice of a personal inner mentor is unlimited. It could include:

  • A work colleague
  • Friend
  • Relative
  • TV personality or character
  • Celebrity
  • Politician
  • Sportsperson
  • Someone who is good at what you wish to achieve
  • Historical figures
  • A deceased person who could be watching over and wanting the best for you!

You don't have to go it alone. Whether you need a parent figure or a go-getter who will stretch you beyond what you believe possible, recruit your inner mentor today and start making things happen in your life.

  • Select a small change, challenge or goal for your life.
  • Recruit an inner mentor to support, encourage and advise you.
  • Talk to your inner mentor about barriers, fears or problems that you are experiencing and switch in to their recommendations.
  • Ask your inner mentor how  to approach your change, challenge or goal? What is the next most important step that you could take right now?
  • Prepare an action plan from the information that you have gained.
